Virar-Alibaug Multimodal Corridor

126 km Virar-Alibaug Multi-Modal Corridor (VAMC or MMC) by MSRDC is an approved 8-14 lane access-controlled expressway with a route alignment connecting Navghar – Balavali within Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) in Maharashtra.
This greenfield expressway was originally planned in 2011 by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). In September 2020, a deal was signed to hand its construction to the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). The expressway will connect three districts — Raigad, Thane, and Palghar. Its construction will be done in 2 phases – Phase 1: a 96.41 km highway between Navghar and Balavali, and Phase 2: a 29.9 km highway between Balavali and Alibaug.
The expressway is expected to be completed and opened in 2030. Its construction has been severely delayed due to land acquisition issues. The project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) has not been made available online.
